Listen… I am making my living full time online mainly selling other people’s products and services. There is MUCH MUCH more to a website than just slapping together some text and images. If you are serious about the PROCESS and the eventual success of not just having a website but a BUSINESS on the Net you will need to learn the fundamentals of website design and Internet marketing. The two go hand in hand.

And this is where most websites fail, people only consider the web design aspect and not the marketing aspect of owning a website. “build it and they will come” is from the movies, not from the Internet.

You have to know what you are doing web design and marketing wise, from testing your idea to website metrics, to copy writing, to most wanted response to keyword selection to conversion, to buying cycles, to traffic generation (targeted traffic generation, traffic by itself means nothing. I have had websites with 2500 people a day visiting it and not make a cent) and so much more.

In fact, if they offered this at varsity, you would propably have to study 3 years at least and pay a fortune before you could understand the fundamentals of good web design (no, pretty pictures have nothing to do with good web design) and website marketing. In fact, if you have a marketing background and not a graphic design background your chances of success with a website of your own is greatly increased.
