I am a full time webmaster for several websites and small business owners in South Africa and am even building websites for people living abroad.  Naturally I become the webmaster for the sites if created from scratch, but I have also “inherited” existing sites that I have taken over, fixed up and had become the web master for as well. The main benefit of course for hiring a freelance webmaster like me is that you do not have to employ somebody full time with all the associated labour nonsense that goes with it. (If you live in South Africa and have a small business you will know what I am talking about). 

You also only pay me if you need my services, you do not need to pay me if you did not require my services this month.  I hardly ever work on a retainer basis (although I do for some clients) but generally, you want something done, you contact me and it gets done.

You do not have to provide space for me in your office somewhere, as I work from home and do everything exclusively over the Internet or over the phone.  You email me what you want done and as your webmaster I get it done for you.

You pay me for performance and do not have to pay me a full time salary as you would have to if you employed a full time web designer.

And here is you biggest BENEFIT if you hire me to do your web design work : I am paradoxically NOT a real WEB DESIGNER… My main expertise is in website and Internet marketing.  I am first and foremost a specialist Internet Marketer and not a traditional “web designer”.  I learned web marketing from “the school of hard knocks” having built over 500 websites and owing several myself, I can most definitely advise you about what works and what does not. 

So when you hire me as your webmaster, expect to get advice for your website based on my own experience from marketing on the web. 

As your new webmaster I will advise you not just on the technical aspects of your website, but also on the marketing of your site, from on page elements such as design, text copy and search engine optimisation, but also off site elements such as link campaigns and advertising.
