Website design and small business owners
If you’re thinking of starting a business, you’ll definitely want to establish some kind of web presence. Here we’ll give you a few simple tips that will make designing your Web site a lot easier.
We’ve all been annoyed by those flashing banners and highly animated web pages at some point. A lot of people click off of them right away. However, if you offer banner ad creation services, or if you create animations for others, you may want to put up a select few so prospective customers can see your wares.
Be sure that your site is easily navigable. If a person visits your site, and they can’t find a “click now” or a “Buy” button, they may just say “Forget it!!” and take their business elsewhere. Most web designers put their navigation bar on the left side of the page to make it easier for people to find, because most people read from left to right.
When a viewer looks at your page, make sure they know how to get to other parts of the site, and that they know for sure which part of the site they are on. Put a link on each page directing visitors to the site’s home page, or to related information.
When you design your site, look at how long it takes to load. Reduce the loading time by limiting the amount of graphics per page. Long loading times are annoying to most people- they want their information NOW!!
Use a font that’s easy to read. If you’re selling a product that’s commonly used by the elderly, you’ll want to make the print larger so it will be easier to read.
After all, you wouldn’t want to pick a great-looking font that won’t work with IE or Firefox. Good luck and happy designing!
