Why Choose WordPress for your Blog Software?
It’s smart to start your blog on good footing. It’s difficult to change ways and begin again. Blogging with “free” blog hosting? It’s true what they say, “You get what you pay for.”
Pay for website hosting for your blog if you can afford it and verify that your server can support WordPress.
Unless you are a computer wiz, be sure that whichever hosting company you select to host your blog includes WordPress and Fantastico in the package. WordPress is automatically installed with Fantastico. The other option is to download and install WordPress by yourself, which is difficult.
WordPress does not require you to be a programmer to use it. In just a matter of minutes, you can “take it out of the box” and start blogging.
For what reason should you use WordPress, and not another type of blogging software? WordPress is the top brand. It has existed for quite some time. There is an wide variety of themes available through WordPress. (The appearance and feel of your blog can be altered with themes.) There is no need to know how to design or code, unless you want to make a change to “canned” functionality.
Plug Ins: You can add things to your blog with plug-ins. If you know PHP, you can make your own or you can select third-party plug-ins. The WordPress website offers plug-ins. There are quite a few of them and they do everything you can imagine — there is even a plug-in that will generate an XML sitemap of your site for Google.
You are provided with complete control over your blog through WordPress. Your options are limitless. Great user management is available through WordPress. For instance, articles can be written by authors, and upon approval, those articles can be published by editors. Administrators can even alter the design of the blog.
Don’t invest lots of time, only to have to destroy it and bring it to WordPress. Do it right from the start.
Content Creation: How To Write Well For The Internet
Writing content for blogs and websites is an art form, and should be treated as such. Content creation is a professional skill that takes time to develop. Just as with anything else, the more you practice, the better you get. Engaging your audience is key. You have got to make them want what you’re offering.
Big words will not get you anywhere. Making your blog easy to understand is a top priority. Using too many big words or a lot of tech speak can alienate you from your audience. Most people expect easy to understand reading on blogs. Try to keep your articles conversational and easy to read.
Emotional response is another priority when it comes to writing. Whatever the response may be. Make them angry, sad, happy, lonesome. Just get a response. If you stir peoples emotions chances are they will be back to your site. Stir them the right way and they may even tell their friends about your site!
When you write content or when you blog, people should be able to identify with you. Do you ever read something on the Web and find yourself nodding your head in agreement, or find yourself getting fired up and ready to take action? It’s because the words that you’ve read sparked something in you. You were able to identify with the author, at least for that little bit of time. The more a person is able to do that the more successful he or she will usually be at content writing and blog creation, and the more readers and customer he or she will ultimately get.
Plagiarism is the enemy of any writer. Do not do it. Do not steal other peoples words. Everything on the internet is recorded these days, and with websites like CopyScape its pretty easy to catch people who are ripping off the work of others. If you get caught stealing you definitely won’t have many readers left! So stay away from copying!
Bloggers must choose a niche. Content writing should always be specific and to the point. But, blogs need to be even more niche specific. Stick to things you know well. Sticking to the topic will keep people reading for a long time.
It’s also very important, whether you’re writing for content creation or for effective blogging, that you know who you’re talking to. Sure, anyone could find your blog or your site and read it, but who are your normal, common, or standard reader? What age group are they in, what do they like to do, and why are they interested in what you have to say? No matter what you’re writing, if you want people to read it and respond to it, knowing your target market and catering to it is the most important thing you can do for success.

Writing Great Content For Your Blog
Know your audience. It’s been said a million times. But, this is the most effective skill that a professional blog writer can have. Writing creative, engaging content takes time and practice. Knowing your reader does too. If you want to be a great blogger, you’ll have to make your readers want to come back. You’ll have to find your voice.
Don’t talk over people’s heads with a bunch of technical jargon that they won’t understand. Most people don’t like that, unless you’re writing something very technical for a very specific market. Most of the Internet writing and blog writing is written between a sixth and an eighth grade level. That doesn’t mean that people are stupid, but only that they don’t want to have to work too hard to understand something. They are busy. They have things to do.
Emotional response is another priority when it comes to writing. Whatever the response may be. Make them angry, sad, happy, lonesome. Just get a response. If you stir peoples emotions chances are they will be back to your site. Stir them the right way and they may even tell their friends about your site!
Finding your voice is an important part of writing. Don’t be afraid to spice things up with some personality. After all, getting people to relate is easy if there is a real person behind the words. Voice and personality in writing is something that has to be discovered and cannot be taught. But it is essential to creating quality content.
Another thing you’ll need to consider for effective content creation is that people can and do plagiarize. Don’t do it. There are many ways to get caught anymore, and if you do you can get in a lot of trouble. It’s also not fun to find that your content has been ripped off by someone else. If you steal from others to fill up your site or blog you’ll lose all of the credibility you would have had with your audience, too, and who wants that? It certainly won’t keep people coming back!
Free Website Headers: How to Customize for Your Website
Whether you are the owner of a new website, or an existing one needing a bit of ‘redecorating’ certain aspects need your consideration. You may want people visiting your site to see a very professional site. Perhaps your website caters more to children and family, and you want a family-friendly experience when they find your page.
Gone are the days when any web or graphic design meant hiring someone to do your website work for you. This inevitably meant spending money to obtain exactly what you wanted. And even then, there was no guarantee that was going to happen. There are many programs now available which permit you to completely redesign your current website, as well as helping you create the ideal first site. One of the easiest we have found to work with is Photoshop.
When you use Photoshop, you can easily have a finished product in your own style in no time at all. You’ll be doing the work yourself, using your own computer and on your own time you’ll be saving money from the get go. While choosing this method of creation for all your header needs, with your personal style and feel to them, you will simply have to add them to your site codes once you’re done. Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves though.
To get started, open your Photoshop software and create a new image. You can set the size of your image, which will be your header, either by entering 1025 x 150 pixels (or whatever the size of your webpage may be) or by using the image-size tools available to you in order to set the proper dimensions you wish to work with.
After selecting the image outline or header, choose the tool which resembles a rounded rectangle. You must now drag this pointer to the top left corner of the image. Left click in order to draw a rectangle crossing from left to right sides of your image. This will show you the exact outline of your header section.
Continue by now selecting “Layer” from the navigation tool bar, which is found at the top of the window in which you are working. The next option you choose is the “Layer Style”, followed by “Add Drop Shadow” from the various options. There will now be a new pop-up window with the option “Drop Shadow, Inner Glow and Outer Glow.” Check the box in front of this option.
Next, you want choose the “bevel” option. This will result in the rectangle having a professional style with depth, added by your chosen shadow. Clicking on the “Layer” icon will add a new layer to your header.
We’re going to open the text tool now, dragging it to the top left corner of your image. Type here either the name of your website or company name. Have fun playing around with different font types, sizes and colors until you find what really suits your ideas. There are also other text option tools on the navigation bar at the top of the present window.
At this point we are going to add more style to your header. Start off by selecting the rectangle tool, then left-clicking the top right-hand corner. If you drag the pointer along the top of your header, you’ll create a smaller navigation bar at the top of the image.
You can now click the “Direct Selection” tool, and by left-clicking on it you can select the rectangle. You will now see small squares appear in each corner. By clicking the lower left corner and dragging it toward the right, you will create an angled edge for this new navigation bar.
If you wish to add color or effects to this upper navigation bar, you would be choosing the “Fill” tool and making your choices from the options there. You can also crop and/or cut your image to any exact size you may need with the “Crop” tool.
Since you want to be sure you don’t lose all of this work, click “File” then “Save for Web and Devices” and save this image. You might consider creating a folder to contain all your business website information so everything is kept together. Once your new header is saved, it’s time for you to upload it to the “Images” file of your website codes.
In order to add this new header to your web pages, you need to use it as a background image. You will be placing it in the first row of your first table of the website, right under where you see the head tag.
Now that all is said and done, you will be able to see just how easy it is not only to create your own website headers, but how they can be done for free. Depending on the goal of your website, you may decide to change headers for each season. Or maybe get creative with the headers for other pages of your website. There’s no reason why not. Besides, it’s free!
