How to Generate Traffic

by Dan Yorter

To let people know you exist and get them to come to your website is by generating traffic to your website. Because without traffic, your website will not be seen by people or simply your website will just be useless. If you have no traffic then nobody will view your website, hence, no one can purchase your product, no one can tick on your ads, and no one can read your own articles. Your website just dont exist. Its as simple as that.

If you market a product or service, the more that people will recognize about you the more youre going to sell and earn money. If your objective is to create revenue by putting up ads on your website, the more traffic you have the more you can price for your ads. If you have a blog that prove your knowledge in a field or domain where you sell consulting services, the more people read your blog the more contracts youll get and the higher the rate you can charge.

It doesnt indicate that youll sell more of your product, sell more ads, contracting gigs, etc. Thats another matter. For that you must be able to change your traffic to sales (or whatever your objective may be). The one thing to consider is that traffic doesnt automatically change to revenues.

The web is flooded with websites. There are billions of active websites. You have to give people the ability to find you by viewing on your website. Having Google lists you in their search results is not adequate. You have to pro-actively pull towards you the traffic. You have to assist Google know you exist. You need to give people other ways to find you then just the search engines. You need to create paths to your website that people can easily find.

Of course free traffic generation method arent really free, they cost you your time. Depending on how important your time is. Some free traffic generation method may actually cost you more than paid services. Website traffic generation strategies can typically be broken down into two major categories. Those that cost a lot of money and those that dont.

The main thought or strategy is to think outside your focused view. Ask people you know, strangers, your customers. Make a simple survey. Ask them how they would locate you on Google. Ask them how they would find your type/category of website on Google, not essentially you. Think outside of the box. Dont restrict it to just your experience and knowledge.
