How To Choose The Right Domain Name.

by John Henderson.

When you register your domain name you must ensure that it is as relevant as possible to your targeted keywords and the content of your website. The more relevant it is to your content, the higher you will be ranked within the search engines which means more traffic.

To find a good domain name with your keyword included can be tough, especially for popular extentions but you always have other extensions available that could provide results just as good. Domain auctions can also offer you a more costly way of aquiring your desired domain.

When you think about the domain you want to register you must do a little research as to what keyword you want to target within your market and to try to register a domain that would include that keyword. This is a very important factor and can help you no end with search engine optimisation.

Choose a keyword that has high searches but low competition if possible. If not then try to target the two, three and four word keywords as you are more likely to rank in the search engines for these keywords as the main keywords have too much competition.

Using a free keyword research tool available on the web can be a very valuable tool when searching for the right keywords to target as well as choosing a domain. This is helpful as you can be fully aware of how many people search the keywords and will let you know if its worth marketing.

To make it easier for you to find an available domain with your chosen keyword all you have to do is place your initials then a hyphen and your keyword. For example, my initials are JH and the market i wish to target is golf gloves so i could register a domain like JH-golf-gloves.com . Easy right.

By having your keyword within your domain you will have an advantage over smaller competition and if you market your website right you will rank alot higher and faster if the domain contains the keyword. Its a great thing to know dont you think.

If your new to the whole domain and website world then you must always remember that your search engine rankings will be alot lower if your websites content is irrelevant to your domain name. Your domain must contain words that describe the content and services within your site
